PhD Research Scientist, Cell & Molecular Biology We are seeking candidates with experience in industrial cell line development for bio-therapeutic proteins.
In this role you will support molecular biology efforts for new products as well as express receptors for use in bioassays.
You will plan experiments, develop molecular biology methods, design industrial cell expression systems and participate in planning and execution of the definition phase programs.
Additionally, you will oversee complex and difficult molecular biology experiments independently with a high level of technical skill.
Other responsibilities: • Understand theoretical and technical aspects of entire projects • Perform more complex experimentation within area of expertise in an independent fashion with capability to determine relevancy and accuracy of the data • Provide thorough review of patent and literature in support of efforts for biosimilar products and be a key player in obtaining or constructing appropriate cell lines • Represent R&D as a core team member on programs with strong biotechnical emphasis • Guide others in conducting project specific laboratory activities Requirements To be successful in this position, you must possess: • Masters degree is required, a PhD degree is preferred• Minimum of 3-10 years industrial cell line development/optimization experience is required • Experience developing mammalian cell lines for the production of bio-therapeutic proteins • Thorough knowledge of mammalian cell lines, Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells and NSO cells • Direct experience in molecular biology (gene cloning, expression, sequencing) and protein expression and characterization• Strong familiarity with cloning, transfection and selection
